1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike many health portals, KeepSunshine.com is built as an open, client-side utility:
- We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide your real name.
- We do not collect or store personal health records, medical diagnoses, or sensitive personal data.
- The numbers you input into our calculators (such as wake-up times, cloud cover selections, or lamp distances) are processed locally inside your web browser and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
2. Information Collected Automatically
A. Anonymous Analytics (Microsoft Clarity)
To understand how visitors interact with our calculators and improve website usability, we use Microsoft Clarity. Clarity captures anonymous behavioural metrics such as page scrolling, mouse clicks, and heatmaps.
All session recordings in Clarity have sensitive text masked automatically. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is captured or stored. For more information regarding how Microsoft handles data, please review the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
B. Standard Server Access Logs
Like virtually all web servers, our content delivery network (Cloudflare) automatically logs standard technical connection data, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and the timestamp of your request. These logs are used strictly for network security, DDoS mitigation, and CDN caching performance.
3. Cookies & Affiliate Tracking
A. Essential Local Storage
We use browser localStorage solely to save your local UI preferences (such as your chosen light theme or calculator unit preferences) so you don't have to re-select them on repeat visits. This data remains on your physical device.
B. Third-Party Affiliate Cookies (Amazon Associates)
KeepSunshine is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click on outbound product links to Amazon.com, Amazon places an affiliate tracking cookie on your browser to identify KeepSunshine as the referring website if you complete a purchase.
These third-party cookies are governed by Amazon's independent privacy policy. You can disable or delete third-party cookies at any time via your browser settings.
4. Offline Web App & Service Worker
KeepSunshine is configured as a Progressive Web Application (PWA). If you install KeepSunshine to your phone or desktop, our Service Worker caches core static files (HTML, CSS, JS, and icons) in your browser's local cache storage so the tools function when you have no internet access. This cache contains zero personal user data.
5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your geographical jurisdiction (such as the European Economic Area under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you have rights regarding your personal data:
- The right to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold (e.g. if you sent us an email).
- The right to opt-out of cookies by adjusting your browser preferences.
- We do not sell personal information to third-party data brokers.
